Employment/Volunteer Opportunities

Each year, Catholic Charities has a limited number of employment opportunities available at Camp Nazareth. Positions are seasonal for the camping season and a small number of positions are per diem (as needed).

**Interested applicants for any of the above positions should note, for many of the above positions there are very specific requirements in regards to age, education, experience, supervisory experience to fulfill NYS Health Department Requirements for a Summer Residential Overnight Camp.**

 

Camp Counselor
Education/Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age with experience working with children, experience in a day camp or residential camp setting preferred.
Ability to work well with other in a team setting. 
Ability to act as a positive role model at all times. 
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with campers and staff at all times. 
Employment is contingent upon approval from NYS Health Department which includes notification from NYSDSS Central Register of Abuse and Maltreatment that the Counselor has not been subject of an investigation report, free of communicable diseases, and any other regulatory governmental entities requirements

 

Assistant Cook
Seasonal position at a residential camp for youth 8-16 years of age during the month of July in Woodgate NY.
Education/Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age with food preparation experience 
Knowledge of and experience in food service, including but not limited to: inventory, food preparation, family style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional equipment. 
Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing fewer than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. 
Ability to work well with others in a team setting. 
Ability to act as a positive role model at all times. 
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with campers and staff at all times.

Food Service Director
Seasonal position at a residential summer camp for youth 8-16 years of age during the month of July in Woodgate NY.
Education/Experience:
Must be at least 21 years of age with minimum three years food preparation experience and staff supervision. 
Knowledge of and experience in food service: ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment. 
Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies effectively. 
Experience in supervising effectively. 
Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing fewer than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. 
Ability to work well with others in a team setting. 
Ability to act as a positive role model at all times. 
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with campers and staff at all times.

Camp Nurse
Seeking a licensed RN or LPN to be our Camp Nazareth Nurse for Summer 2020! 


Responsibilities include:
*Directs overall Camp health program, insures health and safety of campers and staff following NYS Health Department Regulations.*
- Maintain infirmary in pleasant sanitary condition and keep all medical supplies in locked cabinet
-Dispense medication to campers and staff
-Review medical information of all campers prior to arrival for completion
-Review staff medical records for accuracy
-Maintain accurate camper/staff medical records in file arranged alphabetically with campers arranged by week
-Maintain strict accident report forms and daily log
-Report to Oneida County Health Department within 24 hours of camper’ staff requiring hospital services, artificial resuscitation or CPR, illness due to food or water contamination, allegation of child abuse
-Morning inspection
-Inform Director of any situations jeopardizing the health/safety of staff/campers
-Uphold Camp Nazareth’s philosophy and enforce proper policy and procedures at all times

Lifeguard

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age with previous lifeguarding experience preferred.

  2. Current Lifeguard Certificate

  3. Current CPR and First Aid Certification

  4. Familiar with Catholic Social Teaching

  5. Employment is contingent upon approval from NYS Health Department which includes notification from NYSDSS Central Register of Abuse and Maltreatment that the Lifeguard has not been subject of an investigation report, free of communicable diseases, and any other regulatory governmental entities requirements.

 

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

*To protect the life and well being of all staff/campers on the waterfront*

  • Provide maximum safety of all campers/staff while on waterfront

  • Maintaining waterfront coverage at all open beach times

  • Complete tasks assigned by Waterfront Aquatics Director

  • Assume counselor responsibilities when not involved with waterfront activity

  • Inform Director of any situations jeopardizing the health/safety of staff/campers

  • Uphold Camp Nazareth’s philosophy and enforce proper policy and procedures at all times

Counselor In Training Program - CIT

 

For the 2020 season, Camp Nazareth is proud to continue our CIT Program. This season Camp Nazareth will host volunteer opportunities for students looking to enhance their skills to one day work at a children's camp. Selected participants will be required to volunteer for the duration of our camping season. **All CIT's will be 17 years of age.**
